West Panama won its first championship in 1986, ten years later in 1996, and again in 2023. Today, in 2026, it is their fourth cup. They won 31 games and lost only 4 in the Championship. The series was distributed as follows: West Panama 4 – Chiriquí 0 (Final Series); West Panama 4-1 Metro in the semifinal; West Panama 4-1 Herrera in the eight-game series, marking 19 wins against 2 losses in the regular round. In the last 14 games, they won 12 and lost 2. In the regular round, they started with a loss to Herrera, but after that, it was all smiles and celebrations for West and its fans. The 'Vaqueros of the West' reached these stages thanks to the depth of pitching from players like Oliver González and Hilario Iturralde, and the tenacity imposed by manager Dimas Ponce, who was also named Manager of the Year. They also benefited from the offensive consistency of catcher Luis Aranda, the batting champion and MVP of the tournament. Aranda solidified a year of valuable numbers: 35 hits, a .455 average, 22 RBIs, and 24 runs scored. In this way, the province celebrates the arrival of its team tonight (7:00 pm) at the Justino Salinas stadium in La Chorrera, after parades through San Carlos, Chame, and Capira.
